Description
RESPONSIBILITIES: Initiate, implement, and coordinate all government, foundation and
corporate grant- related strategies and activities for Urban Peak with guidance from the Director of
Development & Public Affairs. Develop (with the Director of Development) the annual grant and
foundation projections, manage these projections and introduce strategies to achieve the plan laid
out in the annual budget.
Duties include:
* Prepare and write government, foundation, corporate, church/civic grant proposals to potential and current funders;
* Prepare and write foundation, corporate, church/civic grant reports (no government grant reporting);
* Research new potential funding sources;
* Supervise grant-related activities, including supervision of interns and/or contract staff writing grants;
* Maintain report deadlines, grant and proposal files, and grant attachments;
* Report data and generate calendars on a weekly basis in Raiser’s Edge for Urban Peak.
* Track status of proposals and follow up to provide additional information as required by funding sources;
* Other duties as assigned.
Some travel required to the Denver Shelter and other Urban Peak facilities.

QUALIFICATIONS:
* Must have two (2) years recent experience writing federal, state and local government and foundation grants;
* Bachelor’s degree plus two (2) years relevant experience in a similar role or the combined equivalent of education and experience in a similar role regarding the following:
* Such abilities are usually acquired through a Bachelor’s Degree in a related field (such as non-profit management, communications, or technical writing) and
* Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Raiser’s Edge,
* Experience working with coalitions of service providers, and
* A commitment to not-for-profit work with high-risk youth.
* Writing corporate and foundation grants;
* Building relationships with corporate and foundation communities;
* Consistent exercise of discretion and independent judgment in the performance of duties;
* Collaborative leadership;
* Able to work independently and creatively;
* Problem solving skills;
* The ability to organize and handle multiple tasks and assess and change priorities based upon agency needs;
* Supervision of interns;
* Writing and verbal communication skills including grant writing and report development;
* Experience communicating and working with a diverse group of people.
* Must be insurable as a driver on Urban Peak’s auto liability policy.
* Must pass both federal and state background checks
* Attendance and punctuality are basic requirements in this job description.
WORK SCHEDULE: This is a full time position requiring some evening hours. Regular
attendance and punctuality are an essential function of this position.
CLASSIFICATION/COMPENSATION:
This is an exempt position with an annualized salary range from $40,000 - $50,000, depending upon
skills, qualifications, and experience. Benefits package includes life, disability, medical, vision,
dental insurance, 403(b) plan, sick, PTO, jury duty, bereavement, holidays, and RTD Eco Pass.
