Description

The Community Foundation Serving Boulder County seeks part-time Philanthropic Services Officer.

Established in 1991, The Community Foundation exists to improve the quality of life in Boulder County now and forever, and to build a culture of giving. The Foundation’s Board of Trustees and 10-person staff fulfill this mission by identifying and addressing critical community needs, providing funding and technical assistance to local nonprofits, and helping individuals and families achieve their philanthropic goals. Assets under management currently total $34 million, and are comprised of 240 funds under the advisement of individuals, families and the community at large. In the past few years, contributions to the foundation have averaged $5.5 million annually. The foundation has funded $36.5 million in grants to the community in its nineteen-year history.

The primary responsibility of the Philanthropic Services Officer is to help increase the Foundation’s capacity to provide resources to the community. This will be done in collaboration with a development team, other staff and Trustees, through fundraising, generating major gifts, and developing planned giving. The Philanthropic Services Officer will be an active steward to build, sustain and enhance relationships with donors and their professional advisors. This position reports to the Director of Philanthropic Services who reports to the President.

Responsibilities Include

• Helping to increase the number of people who use The Community Foundation as a vehicle for charitable giving.
• Contacting and maintaining relationships with individual prospects who have the potential to make significant gifts.
• Meeting measurable targets related to personal visits, stewardship activities and development solicitations for each year.
• Increasing the number of professionals who know about The Community Foundation and who refer their clients to The Community Foundation.
• Facilitating productive relationships with current and prospective donors.
• Responding to inquiries and following-up on requests from donors.
• Maintaining accurate records for all contacts with donors, prospective donors, and professional advisors.
• Developing trustees and others as development ambassadors for the Foundation.
• Some planning of donor events
• Performing other duties as assigned by the Director of Philanthropic Services.

20 hours per week
Salary commensurate with experience

• A successful track record raising money through major gifts ($100,000 +) for charitable organizations, or equivalent experience.
• Ability to develop prospect cultivation and solicitation strategies.
• Knowledge of vehicles for charitable giving.
• Established relationships with business, community, and philanthropic leaders.
• Strong donor stewardship and customer service skills.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality.
• Computer proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Foundation Information Management System (FIMS)
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Attention to detail and excellent follow through.
• Creative, warm, energetic, responsive, and collaborative.
• Ability to work both independently and as a part of a team.
