Job Overview
The Boulder JCC seeks a dynamic Development Manager who has both a strong track record and passion for fund development and is interested in working in a growing nonprofit. The Development Manager will work with the Executive Director and the part-time Development Director on fundraising associated with the Boulder JCC membership, annual, capital, legacy, endowment, and special event campaigns. In addition, the Development Manager will manage development records, systems, and administrative procedures. The Development Manager will work in partnership with the Executive Director [ED], Development Director, Board Development Committee, and Campaign Committees in accordance with the Boulder JCC Strategic Plan.
Key Areas of Responsibility:
Strategy and Policies
Engage with the ED, Development Director, and Committees to implement a comprehensive strategic development plan for the Boulder JCC
Coordinate a systematic fundraising plan that includes individual, foundation, event, and grant targets
Develop appropriate policies to achieve excellence in recording, reporting, and communication
Donor Cultivation
Assist in efforts to engage and steward donors
Develop strong relationship with ED, board members, staff, Foundation Directors/staff, corporations, influencers, and community leaders critical to individual and institutional fundraising efforts
Maintain strong relationship with Boulder JCC board and volunteers
Plan and supervise donor cultivation events, experiences, and literature
Manage and coordinate all mailings, including creation of materials in conjunction with ED and Marketing Department
Run mailing lists and organize various components of mailings
Cultivate and nurture donors through regular face-to-face solicitations and other communications
Expand efforts to meet with prospective donors and provide guidance to staff, board, and other volunteers to assist in this process
Supervise recognition process and donor thank you letters/emails
Develop effective thank you letters, annual appeals and silent auction solicitation letters
Work with Marketing to make sure that Development information is up to date on the website.
Events
Work with Volunteer Committee and Development Director to ensure successful events as determined by dollars raised and efficient cultivation of donors
Act as the Boulder JCC’s representative in event management, working closely with volunteers, contractors, facilities, and staff to ensure success
Create online registration forms
Track and report special event registration and funds to ED
Work with Marketing Department on coordination of promotional material for event
Recruit, schedule, and train volunteers for special events
Implement systems to track, record, and respond to all donations that occur as a result of events
Track relationships with event sponsors
Track sponsorship agreements and payments
Implement systems to track, record, and respond to all donations that occur as a result of events
Systems, Data Management, and Communications
Update JCC policies to maintain strong system of record keeping and recording
Update and create protocols to ensure best practices in record keeping and data management
Utilize current donor management system, Donor Perfect, to its full capabilities
Work in partnership with development team to track, record, and follow-up on any and all contacts
Ensure system for rapid response to all donors
Prepare development updates for staff and Board
Supervision
Responsible for attending agency-wide staff meetings and important agency events
Participate in and provide assistance in staff training when necessary
Meet with the Executive Director and the Development Director on a weekly basis
Committees and Board
Participate in Development committee meetings
Attend and participate in additional committee and board meetings as requested
Establish and maintain community relationships and be sensitive to community inter-relationships

Job Requirements
Qualifications:
Minimum of 2 years of development experience and experience in meeting specific goals
Bachelors/Masters Degree in related field
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
Detail oriented with strong organizational skills and ability to juggle multiple tasks
Demonstrated expertise with Donor Perfect or similar donor management systems
Prior experience in event planning, donor solicitations, and general appeals
Big picture thinking as well as analytical skills
Expertise and willingness to learn about and reach out to the funding community
Ability to work in a team environment and to interact effectively with diverse groups, including management, staff, funders, vendors, and board members.
Strong computer skills, including Word, Excel, mail merge, Google Apps and other reporting tools
Excellent customer service
