Description

The YMCA of Boulder Valley is seeking a passionate and compassionate, organized and energized, dependable and adaptable program director to run the new Colorado DACA Project. The position requires systematic problem solving skills, a love of bureaucracy, paperwork and legalese, and lots and lots of heart. Our ideal candidate will be comfortable utilizing their legal know-how to converse with attorneys one moment and then answering fee assistance questions for families the next. We are looking for a hard worker with lots of confidence but little ego, who will dive into this ground-breaking program and have lasting impacts on individuals and our community.

It’s a challenging new position—and we are looking for someone who loves a good challenge.

Background: DACA is a U.S. immigration policy announced in 2012 that offers temporary relief from deportation and the right to apply for work authorization for certain unauthorized immigrants who came to the United States as children. The Colorado DACA Project was developed to implement the policy in Colorado, and the YMCA of Boulder Valley will house the program. Because the position and the program is tied to a presidential order and grant funding, the job is considered a 12-month position with a possibility for longer tenure. The program director will be a YMCA of Boulder Valley employee and will be required—nay, excited!—to participate in YMCA trainings, responsibilities and meetings.

General Job Duties: To say that the future DACA Program Director must be a multi-tasker is a complete understatement: This position will host public forums and trainings; help to raise funds and meet with donors; track cases and stay connected with clients; coordinate facilities and build relationships with other organizations and community leaders; train, motivate and direct volunteer attorneys; compile program statistics and evaluate the effectiveness of and participation in Colorado DACA Project. And much more.
